Open the command prompt and navigate to %windir%\System32 directory
slmgr.vbs -cpky (this clears the KMS entry you may have)
slmgr.vbs -upk (this removes any product key installed)
slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (where the x’s are the new product key you want to use)
slmgr.vbs -ato (this activates the server)
Type slmgr.vbs for further options….

The product Key for Windows Server 2008 R2 is
TU33H-S719P-45UM5-23PWQ-WQ8ME
I cannot tell you how big a thanks I owe you.
I have an MSDN version of Win Server 2008 on two servers (Dev & Test), but they wouldn’t activate. It was suggested to try slmgr.vbs -ipk, but never -cpky!
They were actually telling me that I must have downloaded Server 2008 from another source and that’s why my key wasn’t working! Geez.
Thanks a million, danovich!
